Crimson Creek Wins Gold


September 27, 2016 Pilot Mountain, NC JOLO Wins One Gold and Two Silver Medals at This Year's Sommelier Challenge The only North Carolina winery to win a Gold Medal!JOLO Winery & Vineyards' 2015 Crimson Creek Chambourcin-based red wine was awarded a Gold Medal with 91 points at this year's 2016 Sommelier Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition in San Diego, California. The competition included over 1,100 wines from around the world. In addition, JOLO wines were awarded two other medals as listed below: 2015 JOLOTAGE – Silver Medal 2015 Golden Hallows – Silver Medal This year's Sommelier Challenge, the eighth, was staged Sept. 17th and 18th. The team of 14 sommeliers included Bob Bath, a master sommelier from Napa Valley; Rory Pugh of the highly acclaimed Jean Georges restaurant in New York City; Jeffrey Bencus of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas; and renowned Sommelier Jesse Rodriguez, the Chief Judge, of the Montage Resort in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina. “It is a true testament to our winemaking process that our wines do so well in California wine competitions,” says JW Ray, Owner and Winemaker at JOLO Winery & Vineyards.  "We are thrilled that our Crimson Creek offering is getting the national attention it deserves. We expect great things from this year's harvest and fully expect more medals to come our way for the 2016 vintage."
